If you are looking for a fun hobby that can bring in money every month and benefits animals as well, then you should try building birdhouses! Now that cities are growing and hundreds of trees are being cut down every day, birds have to settle for just about anywhere, which is not always safe. But a small wood house is like a palace to most birds.

In order to make your business have a unique edge, you can customize each birdhouse to types of birds native to your area, or birds that migrate through your area. Once you have that conquered, then start making custom birdhouses for all types of areas and create a website so that people from all over the country can search which bird house is best for their climate and ecosystem.

First, research on the internet or at your local library which birds inhibit your area. Study where they prefer to create their nests, as well as what they like to eat and what size they are. Different birds have different hole requirements. Knowing these types of things will attract certain birds to inhibit your homemade birdhouse.

Then, create the house patterns. It basically just needs four walls, a roof, a bottom and a hole. Use wood scraps you already have, or buy materials. Materials usually cost $10 to $15 per house. Then design each house with a theme by using paints or craft materials. If you are giving the birdhouse as a gift, create a theme you know they will like by using their favorite colors or create a Zen theme, for example.

Lastly, include information and a picture of the bird the house is supposed to attract, along with mounting instructions.

It’s posts like this that keep me coming back and checking this site regularly, thanks for the info!
