If your potential employer asks you to send money before you can start working, then it’s probably a scam.

If you are worried about scams, consult with the Federal Trade Commission to check for complaints on a company. Most times, they will be able to advise you to the legitimacy of a particular opportunity. The Better Business Bureau is another good source for determining whether an offer is legit or not.
