Here’s how you can create your own town’s history (if there is not already one) in three easy steps. Creating your town’s history can enrich others as well as yourself. Knowing the background of where you live and come from can give you a sense of pride and even a few surprises. Once the history of your town is completed, you can create a website about it and create a booklet and sell it.
Step one is to go to the nearest library and research your town. Look for how it was established, by whom, and what families first settled there. Research what they did for a living and their descendants.
Step two is to go out into the town and investigate. Go to local graveyards and study family trees. Snap pictures of the oldest most unique grave plots. Then go around town and take pictures and even do interviews of the locals. Ask them about their family tree and why they live there, where they came from and what they like most about your town.
Step three. Compile all the photos, interviews and research you obtained. You can either write a book, pamphlet, packet, or create a website on your findings. Offer to sell these items to locals at fairs, events, the local library, local stores etc. to make money from all your hard work!
